RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • 1. The Library is intended for the use of students, faculty members, and staff members of Indian Institute of Information Technology Pune.
  • 2. Identity card is essential to use the library resources and services.
  • 3. Please enter your name and other details in registers kept at the designated locations before entering library and using any of the library resources. Monitoring of library usage is essential for improving existing library resources and services.
  • 4. Strict silence can be observed within library premises. Defaulters will be asked to leave library immediately.
  • 5. Outside visitors and guests need to get permission from Director/Librarian to use Library resources, services and facilities.
  • 6. Deposit your all personal belongings in property counter at the entrance of Library excluding any of the valuable articles. Please understand Library staff are not responsible for any loss of your personal belongings.
  • 7. Library books to be returned need to be return at circulation section before entering the Library. Personal books and issued books shall not be carried out inside of the stack room section. Submit your Identity card at the circulation counter to consult books in stack room.
  • 8. Please do not re-shelve removed books in the stack room. You may leave books on the tables near to stack room to re-shelve by library staff. Please understand books misplaced are equivalent to books lost.
  • 9. Library staff/security guard reserve to observe all documents and books while leaving Library premises. No opposition will be entertained in this matter.
  • 10. Daily newspapers, Journals and Periodicals shall not be removed from the room/section. and shall be placed back in allocated place after use. Current issues of technical journals and general periodicals cannot be issued outside the Library. However previous issues of some journals can be issued for three days. In case of damage/loss of any of the journal/periodical from reader, replacement of same copy is essential.
  • 11. Anyone found misusing or damaging any of the library resources or premises can be asked for replacement of the same Library resource.
  • 12. Eatables and beverages are not allowed inside Library premises. Defaulters will be asked to leave the library immediately.
  • 13. Mobile phones shall not be used within library premises and can be kept in silent mode before entering Library. Readers can attend their call outside the Library.
  • 14. Reading hall's seating arrangement is for individual study and not for group discussion.
  • 15. Reservation of books can be done for books which are not on shelf and respective books shall be collected on the same day. If reserved/demanded books are not collected on the same day the respective books will be shelved back or it can be issued to subsequent reader who have placed demand for the same book.
  • 16. Three books (May Change depending upon availability of books) will be issued to one student for 15 days. The books can be renewed/returned on or before the due date stamped on due date slip. Defaulters will be charged fine of Re.2/- per day/per book. If books are not renewed/returned for one month, further books will not be issued until the borrowed books are returned/renewed along with applicable fine.
  • 17. Students are requested to ensure about return of books and clearance of their dues from software records.
  • 18. Books in demand cannot be renewed. Students are requested to take photocopy of required chapters during their issue period. Library staff reserve to call back the issued books by sending SMS/e mail to respective student if same book has demand from other students.
  • 19. Reference books like dictionaries, encyclopedias, hand books, manuals, data books etc and other rare and expensive books (costing above Rs.2000/-) cannot be issued outside the library premises. However students can take photocopy of required pages from it. Please understand at any time whole book shall not be photocopied.
  • 20. Misplacement/lost of identity card can be reported to Librarian immediately in writing/on e-mail/through phone call so that, their library account can be deactivated and avoid misuse of it. Library staff will not be responsible for transactions carried out on misplaced/lost cards before reporting.
  • 21. Students are requested to collect books personally. Transactions carried out on their name by other students can be reported to Librarian immediately in writing/on e-mail/through phone call so that, their library account can be deactivated and avoid misuse Do not issue borrowed books to others.
  • 22. Students can write their suggestion for addition/improvement of library resources/services in the register kept at circulation counter. Implementation of suggestion given will be subject to approval of IIITP Library committee members.
